I recently discovered that I'm not good at writing long official reviews, I actually prefer rambling about the books I like and share my opinions, along with writing short blurbs about my current or past readings. So I decided that the Modern Mrs Darcy's linkup was the best way to share my progress with you.
Here are some of the books I've read lately.
Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell
I really enjoyed this short novel by Rainbow Rowell, even if I've read it after Fangirl, her writing style doesn't disappoint, it's just amazing. The story is pretty simple and there are a couple of cliches, nerd guy - popular girl - fear of being a fake fangirl - possible love story. But despite all, I liked it so much that I was disappointed to arrive at the end after few pages, I would definitely read an entire book about it, because the characters and the plot are adorable!
As always, Rowell demonstrated her fangirl's nature and I love it, since she can describe the right way how geek girls feel themselves in certain occasions. I completely pictured myself as the main character, even if I'm not such a Star Wars fanatic. 4 stars only because it was too short! :)
I love journaling, so I was very excited to read this book after listening to a podcast with the author, I was sure it would really helped me through my journaling process. Unfortunately it was jam packed with writing "tools", as the author calls them, a bit too much out of my comfort zone. I still gave it four stars, because I think it's a great book and it could be useful to other people, plus I really enjoyed reading it.
It took me too many years to finally read this book, but I'm so happy I finally did it since it was amazing to me. I loved the movie from 2005 and this was one of the rare cases in which reading the book after the movie didn't bother me at all, I actually enjoyed it.
I don't remember how I discovered this book, but I absolutely adored it! Gretchen decided to start a 12 month-project to see if her already happy life could be even happier and wrote this book documenting her journey. This is such an inspiring reading, it really made me reflect and think about my own life. I'm tempted to start MY Happiness Project now!
